Home Staging Tips For Maximum Profit - The Curtis Team - Doug Curtis - Real Estate - Texas Real Estate - San Antonio - Greater Austin

You’ve probably been told to stage your home for the market, but is it worth the effort? In today’s market, it could make all the difference. Staging your home is a way to showcase your home’s best features and impress potential buyers.

Looking for the best home staging tips to help maximize your profit? Let’s dive in!

Curb Appeal

The exterior of your home is usually the first picture buyers see online and the first thing they see when they pull up to your home, so make sure your curb appeal makes a good first impression! You don’t want a buyer to immediately be turned off and not want to go inside over some overgrown weeds or a broken handrail. Take some time to make sure everything is clean, well-manicured, and repaired before picture day and any showings.

Depersonalize

Buyers want to be able to walk into your home and immediately imagine themselves and their belongings in the home, so depersonalizing is a must. Take down any family photos and artwork on the refrigerator and make sure all toys are hidden for showings.

Depersonalizing also includes any pet supplies or toys. We know you love your pets, but trust us when we say it won’t help your home sell. You may have a buyer who may be allergic or had a bad experience with an animal, so it’s best to remove any pet items and try to remove any pet smells as much as possible.

Furniture

It can be easy to overdo it with your furniture because you don’t want a lot of empty space, but buyers like open space. It allows them to picture where their furniture will go if they decide to write an offer. On the flip side, make sure there’s enough furniture in the room that doesn’t look empty. Try to find a nice in-between and make sure the furniture you choose makes sense for the room so it’s warm and inviting for guests.

Clean & Declutter

Give your home a thorough cleaning and remove any unneeded items from the home. A nice, clean home shows the buyers the home has been taken care of and shows the home in its best light. If you can, try to remove any items you no longer need or want from the home instead of putting them in the basement or garage (buyers will be looking in those rooms, too!).

Final Touches

Before showings or an open house, run the vacuum, clean off the countertops, and turn on the lights or open the curtains. If you want to take it further, light some candles (nothing too overpowering) and add fresh flowers to the kitchen table. Buyers will appreciate the extra thought!
